“Summertime” is inspired by the bush surrounding the George’s River and it’s tributaries, where prolific quantities of Gumtips, Christmas bush and Christmas bells are described by local resident Ellen Anderson in Heather Goodall and Alison Cadzow’s “Rivers of Resistance”.

The blackened woody stems and finial buds are also a representation of the resilience of the bush after fire as new growth emerges from charred vegetation.
